When are Sex Therapy Intensives Contraindicated?
Sex Therapy Intensives are not recommended for every situation, nor are they a replacement for traditional psychotherapy. Sex Therapy Intensives are, in fact, contraindicated if any of the following factors are present:
- There is active alcoholism and/or substance abuse
- There is an active and ongoing affair, either known or secret
- There is an active threat of domestic violence in a relationship
- There is major mental illness, such as untreated bipolar disorder, major depression, and/or psychosis
If any of the above conditions are present in your life and/or relationship, the intake coordinator at NSTA can suggest resources to help you find appropriate services.
