Shanna Fishel, M.Ed.
Clinical Sex Therapy Intern
Pronouns: She/her or they/them
Shanna comes to NSTA with over a decade of teaching. Growing from a special education teacher to a sex educator for youth and adults, Shanna decided to deepen their clinical expertise and is now enrolled in Smith College School for Social Work.
Motivated by social justice and equity, Shanna is deeply touched by the opportunity to work with clients and to support an empathetic space that explores choice and personal agency. While still developing a clinical focus, Shanna employs tools of mindfulness and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with a trauma-informed, cultural-relational lens. Their clinical interests include functional diversity, kink dynamics, sexual health in recovery, non-traditional relationships and families, gender, sexual identity and sexual orientation, and the intersectionality of identity.
Before moving to western Massachusetts, Shanna lived in Israel and the Boston area, and is still transitioning to Valley living. She values her identities as a vegan, a mother of twins, and a partner in life.
