Joel Coburn, LICSW
Clinical Sex Therapy Associate
Joel’s work is guided by a belief in the constant potential for relationships to promote healing and transformation in ways that may have never previously felt possible. He incorporates attachment theory, relational theory, and interpersonal neurobiology with narrative and mindfulness-based techniques and strategies. He is grateful for opportunities to witness and join his clients on their journeys toward experiencing increased connectedness, meaningfulness, and wellbeing in their relationships with themselves and other people in their lives. Experienced with a wide range of clinical issues, his specializations include gender and sexuality, complex trauma, and living with chronic illnesses including HIV/AIDS.
Joel enjoys collaborating with other mental health providers to advance social justice, anti-oppression, and intersectionality in clinical practice. He has provided trainings on LGBTQ-affirming psychotherapy for adolescents and adults.
